“I’ve given up my body more times than I’ve been given flowers, ...”
A nice poem that, ‘delves into modern romance’.
It makes you think.
It made think.
Men give up their body too.
It also reminds me of the horror. I sent some flowers, twice, to ladies that I wanted to say sorry to.
It made them very angry.
The poem speaks of the feeling that we are disposable, utilised once; only useful for one evening. Is that something unique to women, or do men feel something similar on many an occasion too?
I do not think feelings, emotional feelings, are gender specific. Those women that feel that way will have male counterparts that feel the same. If not precisely the same, roughly the same. Societal norms and expectations exaggerate the difference in beliefs. We expect different things from women in some societies. Giving up their body is seen as a treat. But only a treat given to men. We ignore the treat given to women. That counts less as we may regard that as men winning, women losing.
