DEI - Ignorance Paradox
DEI word

Diversity illusion.

Someone recently asked; has mankind progressed much? With all the stabbings, shootings, rapes, murders, wars, conflicts, defilements, shunning, bullying abound it makes one wonder if man has progressed as much as we think it has.

Asking another question, has the DEI, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion, progressive charter achieved much? Have we stopped excluding people. Do we have diversity in our friendship groups? Do we treat all equally now?

Take the test:

Have you shunned a family member?

Do you make the same effort to talk to all in your workplace?

Do you greet everyone equally enthusiastically? Do you call all by their name – or just some?

Do you notice handsome folk, pretty pretties? More so than the old and grey.

If a man is being belittled by a woman, do you intervene? If a woman is being belittled by a man, do you intervene?

Are you more inclined to read articles relating to famous folk than the general Joe?
If you are hosting a party, will you exclude some from the circles you mix within?

Diversity, equality and inclusion initiatives have probably done more harm than good. We have helped some at the expense of others. In our own life we are never DEI compliant. We do not treat everyone equally. We choose our friends based on discrimination. We help some far more than others. We value some for more than others. We say no to some and yes to others. It usually depends on how appealing and attractive someone is or whether we feel they are on the same side as us.

Thankfully, there is the ‘getting to know someone’ more factor. Whilst we dismiss some at first, we can warm to them over time. However, if we were DEI compliant, that getting to know someone period would be much shorter.

We make fast judgements. First impressions. Many are instantly marked down. However, that appraisal can be changed for the better if those that are marked down make a lot of effort and are patient. For many it is a lot of time, a lot of effort. Others glide in unhindered.
