Science- Ignorance Paradox

Some 'science' is better thought of as statistical analysis.

We use the word science without knowing what science is. Politicians, the media, you name it, use the science term incorrectly. And it has consequences. Dangerous consequences.

A climate scientist could be an oxymoron. A knife with a blunt edge. Or more precisely an utter falsehood. A climate scientist is in fact better described as a climate analyst or climate statistician. One cannot conduct science on the climate. It is not possible. One would need lots of Earths and we only have one.

Let me show you a science experiment.

I want to measure how much CO2 trees absorb. So, I will put a tree in a glass box. I will measure how much CO2 goes into the box. I can work out how much CO2 gets absorbed. It is accurate. It is precise. It is also repeatable. I can do the experiment over and over. I can publish my results so that other people can try the same experiment. That is science. Definitive results from an experiment in a definitive setup.

I can now make adjustments. I can keep the amount of CO2 in the glass container consistent and adjust the amount of sunlight that the tree is exposed to. I keep all else the same. Same temperature. Same air pressure. Same tree species. I can see what weight gain is made to back up any claim. If I change the temperature and the level of CO2 in the glass box, I do not know what made the biggest difference to the absorption rate. I must change one thing at a time. Just one thing.

Now consider claims made by ‘climate scientists’. They have untold variables to work with. They use data from centuries ago. The measurements people made 100 years ago are bound to be less accurate than today. The environment has changed considerably, so much so, that one cannot call it science. It is analysis. It is statistics. It is not science.

That does not mean we do not have a problem.

I think we may have an ecology problem, a huge problem. The efforts to tackle climate change may be making it worse. We may face disaster because of groupthink.

Engineers tried to stabilise the leaning tower of Pisa. They made it worse. Sometimes doing nothing is better than doing the wrong thing.

Btw. I have purchased 11 sites and turned them into nature reserves. I have done. I am not like the girl in the picture, Greta, who has done nothing at all for the environment.
